This month wasn't incredibly busy for me, but I finished the outline for book 3 in The Acros Raiders trilogy and I also finished the outline for book 1 in the steampunk pirates series (looking like a 6 book series.)

Beta readers have been tearing apart Down in Flames and I'm getting tons of helpful feedback to polish the book up. In October, it'll be off to the editor! We are looking at a Q1 2025 release!
In some very exciting news, The Acros Raiders: From the Ashes won an award this month! It got bronze in the fantasy category for the Florida Authors and Publishers Association President's Book Awards. I got to go out to Orlando to accept the award. I'm so thankful to be able to call myself an award-winning author now. This career creates a lot of imposter-syndrome feelings, and the award helps me feel like I'm on the right path.
I'm hoping Down in Flames will be out soon enough to be eligible for the 2025 awards. Beta readers are leaving strong notes and it is sounding like it's a solid story as it is. With some slight tweaks from their comments and another polishing from the editor, I'm confident this book will be much better than my first!

In other news, I went to a kombucha class at the local library. It was entierly free and came with all the supplies (tea, scoby, jars, etc.) needed to start. So shout out to your local library! They might have a super cool class waiting for you. It inspired me to get into another fermentation-related hobby: Sourdough. Meet Fidough, my sourdough starter! I thought he was dead for a bit, but he's rising and falling with daily feedings like some weird breathing bacteria pet. He's named after a new pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet. Max and I have been doing a wonderlock this month (haha, that's also why it hasn't been a busy month) and Fidough was the first pokemon he caught to wondertrade away. It was right when I started the starter, so the name was fitting. He's in a pickle jar. Something that comes with being a full time author is having absolutely no money, so my sourdough starter gets a pickle jar. Sorry it's not a cool locking mason jar like the fancy ladies who run food blogs. We'll get there one day, Fidough. ✌️
Thanks for tuning in. If September has some exciting news, I'll be back next month with an update!
